CAS, Butterfly on leaves, Female

I don't often make CAS cards...  and if I'm honest I had no idea this would end up being one.
You see, I wanted to join in with the latest Butterfly Challenge and I had a rough idea in mind weeks ago when I first saw the 'E' for embossing theme...  but I thought I had longer than I did and almost missed the boat altogether.
(Thanks for mentioning it on your blog, Di)!!!

Anyhow, in a last minute 'I've got eleven hours to the deadline' (which realistically means four hours tops to make the card and try and get a decent photo...  then zoom off to get daughter from school, hear her news for the day, feed her, etc...  Oh yes, and get some washing on, washing put away, prepare and eat my evening meal, etc...  That doesn't leave an awful lot of time really. does it?

Oh well...

So like I said, this wasn't going to be a CAS card.  It was going to have more layers and embellishments...  and initially I had a choice of two designs in mind.  But...  whilst moving things around I looked and thought 'this looks better like this...  Clean and Simple...  uncluttered.'

So that's how this card was made.

Minimal supplies used:
Stampin' Up 'Best Blossoms'
Memory Box 'Blissful Butterfly Border'
Cuttlebug 'Tag Team Butterflies' Cut and Emboss Set
Memento (Tsukineko) Ink Pad 'Bamboo Leaves'
Twine
Foam Pads

Here's the card...

I know Winter is setting in, but I still have room in my life for Butterfly cards.  If you do too, maybe you could pop over to the latest Butterfly Challenge and have a go yourself.  There's always room there you know...  unlike my craft cupboard!!!

(Butterfly + 'E' for Embossing/#40)

Also adding to...

(Butterfly from snippets collection)

Take care...

  3. Well CAS is really my style and I LOVE this! I love the fresh and bright look. And your subtle design is breathtaking!

Donna I've tried to open your page "about me" but but Blogger did not allow me to see it with my blogger account. And I need to switch to another Blogger profile. I have no idea what they mean...

  4. Donna, I saw the lovely card you posted as Guest Designer for City Crafter and followed you over to your blog. After peeking around a bit, I became your newest follower. Your beautiful cards have already given me some great ideas to try! Thanks! If you'd like to check out my blog and maybe return the favor of following me, I'm at http://carriescustomcards.blogspot.com/
I have a 14-year-old son with severe mental illness who is not on the spectrum but has many of the same social issues people with Asperger's struggle with (inability to read people's body language and facial expressions,, difficulty remembering names and faces, being socially awkward and having trouble making friends). He has some sensory issues, as well, especially regarding noise and repetitive sounds. (Noise canceling head phones have saved us more than once!) Anyway, I just felt a kinship with you and thought I'd stop and chat a moment! Blessings, Carrie Sheridan

    1. Hello Carrie.
Nice to meet someone who 'gets it'... I know you know what I mean by that!
Popping over to your blog now...
      Donna
PS. My daughter's hopeless with faces/names, too. She often refers to people as 'the one with the hair/the mean one' etc. It's not something you can explain to people... just the way it is!!!

I enjoy your challenges so I'll be back for more. Glad you like the card... it needs a better picture, though. (Maybe tomorrow)!
Don't stay up too late. Is it the chickens or those pesky elves keeping you busy, I wonder?

  10. Oh my, Donna! There is so much to love on this CAS card! I can't help but layer my cards, but I so appreciate a CAS beauty!

    1. I know exactly what you mean when it comes to layering, Kara. CAS cards are so hard because they have to have a really strong small focal design to offset all of that empty space. I've just realised that with this card... which really was sheer fluke that it ended up that way! I was just using oddments I already had lying around and messing with ideas to see what would work!!!
Thanks for your kind words, Kara :)

  12. Fantastic card! Very elegant. I should check out the Butterfly Challenge, this is the first I have heard of it. Our yard is currently full of monarch butterflys, they are migrating through right now and we planted milkweed for them.

I think I'm finally getting to grips with what CAS means... it just doesn't always go according to plan when I'm 'creating'!!!
