Tag Shaped Card, Butterflies, Water Spritzing

It's Tag You're It Challenge time again, everyone...

...  and you know what that means?

It means I had a tag to inspire me and to ponder over before coming up with my own version.

Yay!

My fellow DT buddy Anja Curvers came up with the most beautiful design for this fortnight's challenge.  But before I show you her tag, here's my version...

Now take a look at Anja's tag.  Can you see why I love it so?

I've kept quite closely to Anja's colour scheme.  I've just mixed things up a bit and put all of the elements together on one large tag shaped card.

I must admit this stamped image with the very bold outline wasn't the look I was going for and I'm not sure I could recreate it again even if I wanted to.  I was experimenting with ink to stamp/stamp to watercolour paper/spritzing stamped image with water and this was one of the results.  I think my stamp wasn't completely dry when I inked it up and created this version.  It's kind of messy, but I kind of like it...  I think!

Supplies Used:

Stamps:
Stampin Up 'Close As A Memory'
Darkroom Door 'French Script'

Die:
Mama elephant 'Tags A Lot'
Poppystamps 'Meadow Clover'

Punches:
Tim Holtz 'Butterfly' (Large)
Martha Stewart 'Pop Up Butterfly'

Inks:
Memento 'Teal Zea'l
Memento 'Bamboo Leaves'
Brilliance 'Platinum Planet'

Stencil:
Memory Box 'Splatter Spray'

Other:
Vellum
Wooden Peg
White Acrylic Paint
Distressing Tool

Challenges I'm Entering...

CAS Mix Up
(Stamping, Die Cut, Water Spritzing - plus two Punches and some Stencilling)
I really wanted to enter this design for your feedback Bonnie and Loll (as I need to know if this 'works' or not), so I made it into a tag card as the challenge rules only mention cards.  Am I correct in saying you are a card challenge only?  And is it ok to have more than three components or not really?

Simon Says/Monday Challenge
Summer Garden

Week #366  'The Great Outdoors'

CAS-UAL Fridays

Addicted to Stamps
Challenge #128  'Flowers'

Of course, I may look at this card in a few weeks time and think 'what on earth was I thinking'...
So...  If you have the time, please let me know your thoughts.
If enough of you like it I may have to try and recreate my experiment.  If not, then thank you for being honest.  It's all trial and error to me, but I'm hopefully making some progress!!!

Thank you for stopping by today...

...  and if you have the time and are feeling inspired, why not join us for this fortnights challenge?

'Bye for now...

Donna

    1. I follow blogs, but rely on the email notification for new posts! I've even recently joined Instagram :)
I thought you liked this colour combination, but then I had a really good look through your work for this year and last year and realised I saw very little in blue and green. Looks like you like purple and green quite a lot - although really you are so versatile I couldn't really spot a definite favourite.
So to play it safe I edited my Facebook response to you!!!
Have a good weekend, Pam. Husband will be watching Football and Car Racing this weekend, so more craft time for me!!!

  4. Really beautiful tag card Donna. I LOVE how you've bolded stamped the images and then let a spritz of water change the look completely. So artsy and beautiful. Yes, CAS Mix up is a card challenge only and you can add as many components as you wish (not limited to three), as long as your entry remains CAS. Your tag card is CAS, even though there are several mixed media components. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx

    1. Hello Neets... and thank you.
I guess I need to learn to stand behind what I think 'works' and not worry so much about what anyone else thinks, but in truth any comments I receive are like my 'sounding board'... so thank you for taking the time to let me know this 'works' for you :)
      Have a lovely week...

Making this into a tag card wasn't quite as straightforward as I thought it would be. I basically cut and layered up the tag panel, and then used the same tag die to make a card by letting the top overhang. This gave me room at the front to add a peg and keep the whole tag shape, but what I didn't factor in was the watercolour card shrinking so the sizes didn't marry up. Talk about a headache!!!
