Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event is still running right now, and I have to confess... I have been having so much fun playing along!
I remember gift tags were always something I loved as a child. They're the real focal point of a gift when you can't (or aren't allowed) to open it up there and then.
I used to keep hold of the tags I really loved, and although I honestly don't know what happened to them after a few days... (I suspect my mother threw them away)... it's a memory that has always stayed with me.
Maybe that's why I'm so fond of making them?
Anyhow...
The tag I've made to show you all today ties in to Day 8 of the event.
It's a real 'girly, girly' tag, isn't it? Probably best suited to a young girl... or a young girl at heart :)
Punches used:
EK Success 'Christmas Tree'
Carl/CarlaCraft 'Flower Pot'
Dies:
Memory Box 'Cosmic Star Set'
Embossing Folder:
Sheena Douglas / Festive 'Snowfall'
Other:
DoCrafts 'Mini Daisy Shaped Buttons' (Parkstone Pink)
Gesso (White)
Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'Walnut Stain'
Twine
Raffia
Embroidery Thread
Mini Wooden Peg
I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the smaller stars were attached to the embossed under layer of this double tag. It just adds to the dimension a little and breaks up the focus so it's not so 'crowded'...
And as for this embossing folder... I just adore it. It's been specifically made for use with acetate and gesso.
Just before you take a peek at the tag I used for inspiration this time around, I will state as I did for my last acetate tag (just in case you haven't read that post) that I have punched out an additional tree shape and glued it behind so that you have somewhere to write on.
Here's a picture of the tag I used for inspiration...
It has a lovely 'homespun' feeling to it, don't you think?
Challenges I'm entering...
(As the Acetate and Green, Kraft and Silver Card are all from snippets)
There are a few days left if you are hoping to play along...
'Bye for now...
Donna

DeleteI'm so glad you like it... and you have hit the nail on the head! I am always playing around with materials! I think it's because I haven't been crafting for that long... or maybe it's just me. Either way, I love the distraction it provides me with :)
Take care...
You are on a roll with your lovely tags Donna, something I do not make, to-days tag is

ReplyDeleteHello Lis :)
DeleteI'm glad you like 'girly, girly' stuff. There's a part of me that does, too... but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea!
Thanks for the kind words... X
Thank you, Jackie. Only stumbled across this challenge blog earlier on today :)
ReplyDeleteDonna the clear tags are so elegant! I love the gesso splatter. Moms do things like that BTW--lol. Thank you for linking your tag up to the 25 Days of Christmas Tags!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tracey :)
DeleteI watched Sheena Douglas on Create and Craft one day and saw her demo this stencil of hers - so I can't take the credit for applying gesso into the snow 'dimples'... but the effect is fantastic :)
I've really enjoyed supporting you in this event.
Thank you :)
You have made a beautiful tag. Love all the vellum. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteHello Mrs A.
DeleteI guess you meant acetate instead of vellum? I know you have a love/hate affair with acetate... so I'm going to presume you had some kind of block where you hate it so much right now you can't even type the word!!! LOL
Thank you. I hope to be back on your challenges soon. Tracey's my fellow DT so I've dropped all other challenges for her event.
There are never enough hours, Mrs A!
OOOh this is SOOOO pretty. LOVE IT. Aha, now we know why you have a soft spot for tags!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sarn xxx
Good Morning, Sarn :)
DeleteIt's wet and soggy here today!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such kind words. x
Really pretty tag - and I adore all things girlie! Gosh, I could so relate to the tale of the tags, I was just the same :)
ReplyDeleteSo many people are using acetate that I'm gonna hop over to the drawer I keep mine in and see about having a play :)
Hugs
Di xx
Sounds lIke a plan, Di :)
DeleteI have so many acetate snippets because any packaging with acetate on gets recycled by me. I've saved a small fortune!!! (Admittedly a VERY small fortune - LOL)!!!
Was your mum mean and threw them away, too?
Now I would not mind finding a tag like this on my pressie...maybe something silver that you wear on your wrist - get my drift!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, and definately very girley.
Hugs

Donna, you are rocking the acetate! LOVE the idea of using it for tags. I need to use mine more often so thanks for the inspiration! Thanks for playing along at Happy Little Stampers xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Kylie :)
DeleteI don't know about you, but acetate is a real headache to cut in my machine.
I'm just too stubborn to let it win!!!
Beautiful tag! Love the acetate and that sweet little tree!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for joining us this week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

DeleteThank you, Melissa :)
I've definitely been enjoying playing with acetate just lately. I'll squeeze in a few more makes with it before Christmas and then put it away for a while! It's a fun medium to experiment with, but no fun to cut!!!
Beautiful memory ,Dona. I love this double acitate tag what a neat idea and so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marybeth.
DeleteNeeded a short break for several reasons, but back to 'playtime' today :)
Acetate is fun, should definitely pull it out again.
