Cherish The Memory - Design Team Announcement...

Just a very quick post to share my news.

I've just joined the Cherish The Memory design Team.

Here's a little bit about them...

The idea for cherish the memory began after dear friends had a beautiful baby boy called Oliver. Sadly following complications after his birth, Oliver fell asleep. This was the most devastating time for them both.

Through his parents' grief, and the upset at having to organise a service for their first much longed for child, one thing came to light, there a lots of gifts sites but not a lot of ideas for sympathy gifts and cards for babies and children for family and friends to send at this difficult time.

So an idea began to form for a unique card and gift site with a very personalised trusted service, since we formed in July 2014 we have been asked if our gifts can be used for other occasions, in response to this our shop has grown to now include cards and gifts for all of those special occasions in life.

We offer bespoke gifting and handmade cards, all wrapped in beautiful tissue ready to send direct or to treat yourself.

Isn't that just a beautiful concept?

Art from the Heart...

I can't wait to show you just how truly lovely Karen's designs are.
Why not take a look at her Etsy shop and see for yourself?

8x8 Display Piece, Wedding, Birds & Butterflies

It's a warm/hot sunny week here this week.

Our garden is playing host to several sparrow families right now.

We saw the same last year...

The gathering of nesting supplies, followed by what feels like a very short time later groups of young all sticking together as they learn to fend for themselves.

What we find most comical is the 'fluttering of feathers' that fledglings do as they display their "I'm hungry" signals to their parents.  Some of these 'fluff puffs' (as I like to call them) look so much bigger than their parents that it's quite obvious they are just taking liberties.
They really should just jolly well go feed themselves!

My easel backed display piece also echoes a nature theme...

It's a style I'm learning to adjust to, but it doesn't sit well in my comfort zone - and it certainly doesn't photograph very well!

But commissioned work is paid work - so if I'm asked to do this style then that's what I'll do!

Wherever you are, I hope life is treating you kindly...

Craft Consortium, 3D MDF Bird House, Mixed Media

I'm embracing my inner 'Messy Betty' for today's Craft Consortium project - a 3D MDF bird house.

It's a picture heavy post!

This little kit started out looking like this...

...  and just by adding these three decoupage papers...

...  and some texture paste and Sparkle Medium...

Plus some 'Always & Forever' lace...

I've created a house any bird would love to call home!

(Well, I made one for it.  And even added one of these...)!!!

Craft Consortium, 'An English Garden', 3D Project

You know what it's like when you get an idea in your head, don't you?

Well...  that's pretty much how this 3D project came together.

I just really wanted to take those toppers from the 'English Garden' premium paper pad and somehow 'bring them to life'.

So here it is.

My first ever 3D project!

Now admittedly I don't normally go 'all out' on lots of photo's...   but this one's an exception as I just didn't know how else to try and show you how it looks.

Can you see that this is a mixture of the toppers AND some of the decoupage papers that

...  and did you notice those handles?

Let me give you a list of the supplies used...

For those of you who are wondering how I got the toppers to stand upright, I backed them with a layer of card for extra strength and then made little 3D triangles from thin strips of card.

Attach one side of the triangle to your topper and the other to the base...  being sure that you are happy with how they look before the glue dries!

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by today.

Should you need any details of dies used or any further information on how this was put together, please feel free to email me...

Craft Consortium 'Flip Flop' Card, 'Tell The Bees'...

 Good morning to you!

Well, it's morning here as I type this - and it's another lovely warm day which makes me happy.

Speaking of making me happy...

I just love, love, love creating distressed looks on cards.

So for my 'Tell The Bees' design project that I'm sharing with you today I went all out on distressing just as much as I felt I could get away with!

It was my first go, too - (at a 'flip flop' card, that is)...

These are seriously such fun to make!

So what have I done?

I've used the front cover of the paper pad, a sheet of the design paper to die cut a layered flower, another sheet of paper to fussy cut the bees, paper scraps from previous projects for the 'lines'...  and I've stamped (don't forget to heat set) in Archival ink, partial stamped/stamped and used Embossing Powder - and added a lace edged die cut.

As you can see, I've used my distress tool a lot for this project, too!

Craft Consortium really do sell the most beautiful design papers.

Don't forget to 'tag us' with your makes - we would love to see them...
