Craft Consortium, The Herbarium, Repurposed Cacao Container

A quick post from me today!

I'm using papers from The Herbarium collection (from Craft Consortium and all good craft retailers) to repurpose another of my Cacao Powder containers.
They make for great homemade food/treat packaging as they clean up inside just perfectly...

...  And as for the 'Best Before' date stamped on the base?  A touch of Isopropyl Alcohol wipes that  off just effortlessly.

I've simply used PVA glue to attach the backing paper, gluing a little at a time to ensure it bonds well to the surface.

Once dry, cover in your chosen design...  I've opted for this gorgeous dark paper that I've glued on to three layers of card before piercing holes for the thread that will eventually wrap around the spoon.

Simply thread the twine through the holes prior to gluing into position.

You'll need a strong glue for sure!

I've used Holtz Distress Collage Medium/Matt to attach mine, held it in place for a while by hand and then wrapped it securely in a piece of cloth until completely dry.

Add a teacup image (fussy cut from the paper pad), a stamped and heat embossed 'Drink Me' (it's on one of two sets of clear stamps that are available to compliment the paper pad) and then cover the whole thing in Holtz Distress Collage Medium/Crazing before using hot glue to hold the metal spoon in place.

Then tie your twine bow.

For those of you who work in an office environment, perhaps this is where you could hide your chocolate bars instead of your teabag stash?!

It's just a thought!

Tag You're It, Selective Colouring

It's Tag You're It Friday time!

The theme for this challenge is 'Selective Colouring', which is super easy to do...

I've simply stamped a grunge partial background in Memento Gray Flannel and then gone over part of the stamp with a touch of Tuxedo Black.

The butterfly has also been coloured using Memento Markers...
As it's a grunge effect I wasn't overly worried about the left and right hand sides not matching perfectly.
Close enough is just fine for this technique!

Simply colour and stamp using a Stamp Positioner Tool and once happy leave the ink to settle in to the paper for a while before spraying with water.
(Leaving the ink to settle before spraying means that the colours will soften but the ink won't bleed so much).

Once dry, I've gone over the black stem with my marker pen so that it 'pops out' a bit more, then left it to dry again before adding three separate layers of Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium/Crazing.

Then add a suitable sentiment, spray lightly with varnish and once dry, attach the butterfly.

It really couldn't be much easier than that!

I do so hope you will stop by and join us in our 'just for fun' challenge.

The winner does get the opportunity to Guest Design with us!

Craft Consortium, The Herbarium, Suitcase Garden/Gift Box

Craft Consortium has a wonderful new release just out...

It's called The Herbarium and features two clear stamp sets, three sets of cute metal charms and a sumptuous 12x12 premium paper pad.

As you can see below, I've had a lot of fun making mine into a 'Suitcase Garden' Gift Box...  just perfect for those keen gardener types out there!

I've started by covering the suitcase die in paper prior to cutting, then stamped a few images on to tissue paper and attached that to the front.

Add some charms, toppers, stamped and water coloured images to the front (along with a few dies from my own personal stash), then decorate the inside just enough so it doesn't look bare...

...  and there you have it.

I do so love making gift boxes, and this collection makes it so easy.

Poppystamps, Grateful

It's my turn over on the Poppystamps blog today!

I've taken the Garden Poppy Sidekick Frame and cut away some of the design...

...  and distressed the edges...

Simply add touches of grey ink and silver gilding polish prior to spraying the whole thing with silver glitter varnish...  well, that's more or less what's involved!
